A modern car shell shredder is a highly efficient, intelligent metal shredding machine designed specifically for shredding scrapped automobile body shells (such as doors, hoods, roofs, fenders, and other aluminum or steel coverings). Its core goal is to rapidly break down large, complex-shaped car shells into uniform, small pieces (typically 10-50mm in size) through mechanical shearing, squeezing, and tearing. This facilitates subsequent sorting (separation of metal from non-metal), melting, or reprocessing, significantly improving scrap metal recovery efficiency and economic value. This equipment integrates multi-axis shearing technology, automated control, and environmentally friendly design to meet the high-intensity, large-scale recycling needs of the automotive dismantling industry.

Working Principle
• Multi-axis shearing: The shredder is equipped with multiple sets (typically 2-4 axes) of rotating (moving) and fixed (stationary) cutting tools. The cutting tools are made of high-hardness alloy steel (such as H13 and SKD11) and vacuum-hardened for exceptional wear resistance. The high-speed rotation of the rotating blade (15-30 rpm) creates a powerful shearing force against the stationary blade, tearing the metal sheet of the vehicle body into small pieces.
• Extrusion Crushing: Some models are equipped with a crushing roller or impact plate, which simultaneously applies pressure to the body while shearing. This enhances the crushing effect, especially for high-strength steel bodies (such as B-pillars and anti-collision beams) or densely packed aluminum alloy panels.
• Intelligent Speed Control: A variable frequency motor adjusts the blade speed to accommodate different materials (such as steel and aluminum alloy) and body thicknesses (0.5-3mm), avoiding overload and energy waste.
Car Shell Shredding and Recycling Process:
The typical process flow of a modern scrap car dismantling plant is as follows, with the shredder at the heart of the pre-processing stage:
1. Pre-processing (Dismantling and Sorting):
• Removal of Non-metallic Components: Hydraulic shears, pneumatic tools, and other tools are used to remove non-metallic components such as interior trim (seats, carpets), glass, rubber tires, and plastic parts (bumpers, dashboards) to reduce the subsequent crushing load.
2. Shredding and Crushing:
• The pre-cut car shell enters the shredder and is broken into uniform small pieces (10-50mm). A cooling system (water spray or air cooling) controls the temperature to prevent aluminum chips from splashing and oxidation.
• During the shredding process, magnetic materials (such as steel screws and rivets) are separated by magnetic separation drums, reducing the pressure of subsequent sorting.
3. Sorting:
• Eddy current sorting: Utilizing aluminum's electrical conductivity, an alternating magnetic field generates repulsive forces to separate aluminum alloy fragments (lower density) from steel fragments (higher density).
• X-ray/Spectroscopic Sorting (Optional): For mixed alloys (such as steel and aluminum alloys), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) or near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) is used to identify the materials and achieve high-purity sorting (aluminum recovery purity > 98%).
