A municipal solid waste shredder is a mechanical device specifically designed to process municipal solid waste (MSW). Working Principle

1. Power Transmission: The motor provides power, which is transmitted to the shredder's main shaft through transmission devices such as pulleys, speed reducers, and couplings, causing the main shaft to rotate steadily at the set speed and direction. Multiple motors (such as dual or quad motors) are typically used to ensure sufficient torque and power to process complex MSW.

2. Material Input: A feed system (such as a hopper or conveyor) feeds MSW evenly and continuously into the shredder's shredding chamber. The feed system controls the feed rate, prevents overload, and ensures a steady flow of waste.
3. Crushing Process: Within the shredding chamber, specially designed cutting tools (such as high-hardness alloy blades and claws) are mounted on the main shaft and arranged in a specific pattern. Once domestic waste enters the chamber, the high-speed rotating cutting tools apply shearing, squeezing, and tearing forces to the waste. The shearing action of the cutting tools severs different waste characteristics, such as tough and soft materials like plastic and rubber; while squeezing and tearing forces shred hard materials like branches and small metal pieces. Some shredders utilize a dual- or quad-shaft design, where the cutting tools on each shaft work together to enhance the crushing effect, gradually breaking complex domestic waste into smaller pieces.
4. Discharge: Crushed waste particles or lumps are discharged through the discharge port. The discharge size can be controlled by adjusting parameters such as the spacing between the cutting tools and the main shaft speed to meet subsequent processing requirements, such as sorting, incineration, or landfill.

1. Soft waste: Materials such as plastic bags, plastic film, rubber products, and fabrics have a certain degree of toughness and elasticity, making them effectively shredded by the shearing action of the shredder.

2. Hard waste: Materials such as branches, wood blocks, and small metal products (such as cans and metal tools) are broken into smaller pieces through the squeezing and tearing forces of the shredder.

3. Mixed waste: Complex waste, such as municipal solid waste, contains a variety of mixed components. Shredders can handle this waste in a comprehensive manner.
